A little history of Dayton: Dayton is known for the Scopes trial of 1925. Every July, the Rhea County Court house steps back in time for four days for the trial reenactment. Our store is the old Robinson Drug Store where the Scopes trial papers were signed.

Dayton has an annual Strawberry festival in May which draws thousands of people to our little town.

Dayton is also home to the William Jennings Bryan College, a four-year liberal arts college which was first devised by its name sake following the Scopes Trial.
